Bird Photography
Bird photography is one of the most rewarding areas of natural history photography. There is a whole range of different types of pictures from portraits, like the Kookaburra opposite, to birds in their environment. Each expression of the world that birds live has its function in understanding the beauty and sheer exuberance of this ancient group. The photographs in this website I hope will illustrate my feelings for and wonder at the diversity of birds and why I have spent my life studying and photographing them.

Landscape
To capture the beauty and drama of our world in a single image is always a challenge. To wait for the right moment, and to have the technical knowledge to take the picture successfully, are the skills that I hope to pass on to those who join my classes.

Macro Photography
One of the real excitements of Macro Photography is seeing a world we hardly recognise. Tiny creatures that we can barely see are shown in brilliant detail and enormous size. The capacity of digital cameras to capture the detail is incredible and the use of HSS flash represents an enormous leap forward in lighting techniques.
